Hertfordshire Action on Disability (HAD) is celebrating sixty years in 2018 and will be marking this special occasion with a 60th anniversary event on the 28th September.
HAD, The Woodside Centre, The Commons, Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, AL7 4DD. 2pm onwards.
The charity was set up in 1958 by the then Welfare Department of the County Council to supply equipment to disabled people. HAD has grown a great deal in the intervening years and now includes a Driving Mobility Assessment Centre, an Accessible Transport Service and a Specialist Equipment Centre whilst also providing counselling and advice. Many services are free of charge or subsidised and make a real difference to people’s lives by focusing on promoting and improving independence and well-being.
The free and fully accessible 60th anniversary event is for customers and volunteers as well as suppliers and local adaptation services. The charity would also like to invite members of the public to visit and find information on the many services that HAD offers to help Hertfordshire’s disabled and older people maintain independence and mobility, as well as seeing how HAD is preparing for the next 60 years.
